Floating Double Layer Fabric Patches

product description

Floating Double Layer Fabric Patches are a premium upgrade to the standard Floating Single Layer Patches, designed to add depth and texture to your custom designs. By using two distinct fabrics—one for the top layer and one for the bottom layer—these patches create a striking 3D effect that enhances the visual appeal of the design. The floating technique ensures that the patch edges are clean and crisp, offering a high-quality finish for any apparel or accessory.

The top and bottom layers can be customized with different fabric options, allowing for the creation of intricate textures and a unique multi-dimensional look. Like the Floating Single Layer Patches, these patches are sublimated for vibrant, detailed designs, and they can be applied with either heat press or sew-on methods, making them highly versatile.

“These fabric options allow you to mix and match different textures, finishes, and effects. For example, combining a Soft Felt top layer with a Satin bottom layer will create a dynamic contrast with a plush feel on top and a smooth, shiny finish beneath.”

Accepted Artwork

To ensure optimal print quality, we recommend submitting high-resolution artwork files.

  • Vector formats: AI, EPS, or PDF (vector files)

For the best results, ensure your artwork includes clean lines and well-defined elements, especially when using small text or detailed graphics.

Size

Size:

  • Minimum Size:  3”x3”
  • Maximum Size: 7”x7” (49 sq. Inch)
  • For custom sizes larger than 7” x 7”, please contact us directly for assistance. We’re happy to accommodate your specific needs!

Limitations

  • Artwork Stroke: For clarity, all text and artwork strokes must be at least 0.1” thick for all fabric except Soft Felt (SF) and Flock which must be at least 0.2”. Thin strokes smaller than this may not transfer clearly or may result in imperfect edges.
  • Size Range: The minimum size for Floating Double Layer Fabric Patches is 3”x3”, and the maximum size is 7”x7”. Larger or smaller patches may not be feasible with this method.
  • Design Complexity: While sublimation allows for rich, detailed designs, extremely fine lines or intricate text may not be as sharp at larger sizes.
  • Heat Press Compatibility: Best suited for application on fabrics that can withstand heat. May not adhere well to heat-sensitive or delicate fabrics.
  • Sew-On Application: Ensure that the fabrics are compatible with the stitching technique to prevent any damage or loosening over time.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

Heat press Application

  • Preheat the fabric for 5 seconds to remove wrinkles.
  • Set Heat Press to 320°F (160°C), 60-70 psi pressure, and 15-20 seconds time.
  • Position the Patch on the fabric, ensuring smooth alignment.
  • Apply Heat Press for the set time, applying even pressure.
  • Cool for a few seconds, then remove the backing and let the patch cool completely before handling.
  • Inspect the patch to ensure a secure bond. Repress if necessary.

Sew-On Application Instructions

  • To securely attach your patch to the garment, we recommend using one of the following stitch types

Runstitch

  • Use a simple, straight stitch along the edges of the patch.
  • Ideal for a clean, basic attachment.

Zigzag Stitch

  • Use a zigzag stitch along the perimeter of the patch for extra durability and to prevent fraying.
  • This stitch provides a bit of flexibility and a stronger hold.

Satin Stitch

  • A dense zigzag stitch that covers the edge completely, giving a smooth, polished finish.
  • Ideal for decorative patches or when a more refined look is desired.

Thread Selection

For the best results, we recommend using Isacord thread due to its durability and smooth finish.

ISACORD Thread Color

Please provide the Isacord thread number you’d like to use for your patch application.
