Double Layer Fabric Patches

product description

The Double Layer Fabric Patch is a unique and versatile custom patch solution that combines two layers of high-quality fabrics to deliver superior durability and depth to your design. By layering fabrics such as FL (Felt), ST (Soft Twill), SF (Soft Felt), FA (Fabric A), JA (Jacquard), and SA (Satin), we create a patch that not only stands out visually but also offers enhanced texture, durability, and a premium finish.

This patch construction allows for creative, multi-dimensional designs and provides additional strength, making it an excellent choice for patches that need to withstand frequent use while maintaining a high-quality look.

Fabric Options

The Double Layer Fabric Patch is made by combining any two of the following high-quality fabrics:

FL – Flock

Stands out for its matte appearance and
finish with an ultrasoft touch and feel.
Recommended for 1.5” x 1.5” size.

ST – Soft Twill

A smooth, durable fabric with a classic woven look, perfect for detailed designs and Satin Borders.

SF – Soft Felt

Mimics the feel of plush mink fabric as
it is extremely soft. Recommended for
1.5” x 1.5” size.

FA – Fabric

A classic, durable fabric with a crisp texture, perfect for laser-cut or printed borders.

JA – Jacquard

This type of fabric has a very classic
look. It is our preferred fabric type for
emblems with laser-cut or printed
borders.

SA – Satin

A smooth, glossy fabric that adds a polished, high-end finish, ideal for intricate details and luxury designs.

Stock Twill

A classic, durable fabric with a crisp texture, perfect for laser-cut or printed borders.

Suede

Stock Flock

“The combination of fabrics can be tailored to suit your design’s needs. For example, a Satin top layer offers a smooth, shiny finish, while a Felt or Soft Twill backing provides a sturdy foundation. The flexibility of fabric choices makes it suitable for different design aesthetics, from soft and luxurious to robust and tactile.”

Accepted Artwork

To ensure optimal print quality, we recommend submitting high-resolution artwork files.

  • Vector formats: AI, EPS, or PDF (vector files)
  • Accepted raster formats: PNG or JPEG (300 dpi minimum)
  • Color Format: CMYK (for accurate color reproduction)
  • PMS Color Matching: If color matching is required, please provide the PMS color code.

For the best results, ensure your artwork includes clean lines and well-defined elements, especially when using small text or detailed graphics.

Size

Size:

  • Minimum Size:  Custom sizes available, with typical sizes starting from 3”x3”
  • Maximum Size: 7”x7” (49 sq. Inch): For custom sizes larger than 7” x 7”, please contact us directly for assistance. We’re happy to accommodate your specific needs!
  • Recommended for Larger or More Complex Designs: The double-layer construction works especially well for medium to larger-sized patches, where the layering of fabrics enhances both the design’s visual impact and durability.

Limitations

  • Artwork Stroke: For clarity, all text and artwork strokes must be at least 0.1” thick for all fabric except Soft Felt (SF) and Flock which must be at least 0.2”. Thin strokes smaller than this may not transfer clearly or may result in imperfect edges.
  • Size & Complexity: While the double-layer design adds durability, very small or highly detailed designs may not be as clear on patches smaller than 3”x3”. Larger designs are generally recommended for optimal clarity and visual impact.
  • Sublimation Incompatibility: The combination of fabrics may affect the final appearance of certain printed designs, particularly those using sublimation printing, which works best on certain fabric types.
  • Fabric Compatibility: Not all fabric combinations are available with every backing type.
  • Color Contrast on Dark Fabrics: If using dark-colored fabrics, there may be visible stitching or thread color contrasts that can affect the aesthetic, especially on Satin or Jacquard top layers.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

Heat press Application

  • Preheat the fabric for 5 seconds to remove wrinkles.
  • Set Heat Press to 320°F (160°C), 60-70 psi pressure, and 15-20 seconds time.
  • Position the Patch on the fabric, ensuring smooth alignment.
  • Apply Heat Press for the set time, applying even pressure.
  • Cool for a few seconds, then remove the backing and let the patch cool completely before handling.
  • Inspect the patch to ensure a secure bond. Repress if necessary.

Washing INSTRUCTIONS

To keep your custom patches looking fresh and vibrant, follow these care instructions based on the patch type.

General Patch Care Guidelines:

Turn Inside Out – Always turn garments inside out before washing to reduce friction.
Use Mild Detergent – Harsh chemicals can damage colors and fabric.
Avoid High Heat – Heat can weaken adhesive backing or distort the patch shape.
